Dear 16-Year-Old Me

Hello Darlings,

The countdown to summer has just begun and the heat in New York is becoming slightly unbearable. Summer is great for all different kinds of reasons, but one negative aspect of the season is the amount of sun exposure that everybody seems to crave. Coming from living a life with very fair skin and a mother who should have invested in a Coppertone stock for all of the sunscreen that we go through, I wanted to dedicate a post about the importance of healthy skin care and how crucial it is to protect your skin from the sun as well as the tanning salons. Please, take a moment to watch the video, and visit here for more information about melanoma. It might change your outlook and could even save a life.

Eternally yours,
Stephanie

Yeah, although I am super excited to get in the sun this weekend, I do need to make sure to lather myself in sunscreen!

you're so right about the fact it's crucial to protect your skin against the sun! I think it's strange most teenagers / people don't take good care of there skin when the sun is shining. They think it's more important to be tanned, but I think protecting your skin is much much much more important. x

My husband lost his mom to skin cancer when he was 16. I never used to be much of a sunscreen wearer (I guess that comes from having darker skin than most) but these days I put the sunscreen on because no one is immune.
