Happy Valentine's Day!

Some people love today, others loathe it. Some will argue that it is just a holiday for stores and greeting cards while others wait for that special someone to appear at their door with stars in their eyes. Others just want to have a normal day with their special someone, not caring that it's Valentine's Day but just wanting to be with each other. Whether you have that special someone or not, I believe that today should ultimately be a day to focus on how much you love yourself.

That being said, everyone wants to look their best on special days like today (or even just on any normal ole' day.) One way to make yourself feel fabulous is your make-up!

On normal occasions I usually just go bare. No eye-liner, no blush or foundation, just some chapstick and maybe a brush of mascara. It's not that I don't want to wear make-up on a daily basis, but for the most part I'm either rushing to class or too lazy. Also, I view make-up as a way to break the monotony of regular days. But most importantly, I believe that make-up should be used to accentuate your features. When a girl wears too much make-up, once they show their natural face, they won't look as glamourous (still beautiful, of course). However, when people get used to seeing your natural face and then you put on make-up for the night out, the compliments will come flowing in because people are not used to seeing you being made up. This is just my personal opinion. Please tell me what you think, regarding the wearing of make-up daily or only for those special moments!

So, that being said, to make myself feel extra fabulous on this special day, I decided I was going to put my make-up. I usually stick to the same simple make-up routine:

First, I apply my eyeliner. Then, with a small flat brush, I apply a dark color (in most cases, I use black but today I went for brown) on the outside of my eyelids. I stop right before my iris. Then with a lighter color (usually pink), I shade in the inner part of my eyelid and blend it in with the black. Next, I curl my lashes with an eyelash curler and apply a coat of mascara. Finally, with a blunt brush, I use a shimmer to smudge around my lower lash line and on the inside of my eyes (sort of the place inbetween my nose and the red part of my inner eye.) After I finish with my eyes, I blend some coverup onto uneven spots on my skin and finish my routine with a sweep of lip gloss.

Don't forget your lipstick!

Here are my essential go-to make-up products:

Sephora Khol Contour Bourjois Paris in Black

Estee Lauder Signature Silky Eyeshadow Due in Ginger

DiorShow Blackout Waterproof in Black

CoverGirl TruBlend in Ivory

MAC Lipglass in Fine China

Once I get bored, I will switch it up, but for now, I Love this look. It's simple yet sophisticated. As read in the above schpeal, I prefer the more natural side of make-up and I feel this simple routine accentuates my facial features. :)
Happy Valentine's Day!
